Project Overview

Green Dimension was appointed as the contractor for the rehabilitation of critical wastewater-treatment infrastructure serving a Ministry of Defense facility in Al-Kharj.

The project covered the complete process, mechanical, electrical, automation and civil scope required to renew an aging institutional sewage treatment plant and restore it to reliable operation. The rehabilitation integrated sewage lifting, preliminary screening, aerated biological treatment, sludge handling, tertiary filtration, chlorine disinfection and treated-water pumping for landscape irrigation.

All principal equipment has been supplied and installed. Commissioning of the control systems and the remaining supporting civil works are in progress.

The Operational Requirement

Institutional wastewater-treatment plants must operate continuously while managing changing hydraulic and organic loads. At facilities supporting essential government operations, system reliability is particularly important.

The existing plant required more than isolated equipment replacement. Its process units, pumping systems, sludge-management line, tertiary treatment, electrical infrastructure, automation and civil assets needed to be rehabilitated as one integrated system.

Green Dimension therefore approached the project as a complete treatment-plant renewal, coordinating each discipline under a single integrated delivery structure.

Green Dimension’s Integrated Scope

Green Dimension held single-point responsibility for the complete rehabilitation program, coordinating treatment equipment, pumping systems, controls, electrical works, piping and civil improvements within one integrated delivery scope.

Scope includes:

  • Condition review of existing systems
  • Process rehabilitation
  • Mechanical equipment replacement
  • Electrical-system renewal
  • PLC and motor-control integration
  • Piping modifications
  • Civil rehabilitation
  • Equipment supply and installation
  • Pre-commissioning inspections
  • Equipment testing & calibration
  • Control-system verification
  • Plant commissioning & reuse integration

This integrated structure allowed all technical workstreams to be sequenced and coordinated through one accountable project team.

Mechanical & Automation Rehabilitation

Reliable biological treatment depends on consistent sewage lifting, aeration and sludge transfer. Green Dimension rehabilitated the principal mechanical systems supporting each stage of the process.

Tsurumi submersible pumps and aerators were utilized for lifting and aeration duties. Tertiary filtration features automated pressure sand filters, followed by an EMEC chlorine-dosing system for final polishing.

Mechanical Scope

  • Check Lift-station pumping
  • Check Preliminary screening
  • Check Aeration equipment
  • Check Sludge-transfer systems
  • Check Filter-feed pumping
  • Check Irrigation pumping

Treated-Water Reuse Architecture

The rehabilitated plant includes treated-effluent recovery for landscape irrigation. Following biological treatment, tertiary filtration and disinfection, the treated water is transferred through a dedicated irrigation pumping system using Grundfos vertical multistage pumps.

The reuse architecture converts treated wastewater from a disposal obligation into a practical resource for the facility.

Reuse System Benefits:
Check Reduced freshwater demand
Check Recovery of treated wastewater
Check Lower discharge volumes
Check Improved resource efficiency
Check Institutional landscaping support
Check Sustainable water management

Execution Within Active Government Facility

Delivering a multidisciplinary rehabilitation project within an operating Ministry of Defense facility required careful coordination of access, safety, installation sequencing and operational continuity.

Mechanical, electrical, process and civil works were carried out around existing infrastructure with controlled site access, detailed work planning, and safe equipment isolation.

Commissioning and Testing Status

All principal equipment has been supplied and installed. Green Dimension is currently carrying out commissioning of the control systems and integrated treatment system.

Supporting civil works are being finalized separately, followed by final operational handover.

Project Significance

This project demonstrates Green Dimension’s ability to rehabilitate institutional wastewater infrastructure as a complete operating system rather than a collection of individual equipment items.

Green Dimension coordinated the complete renewal and integration of the plant under one accountable integrated scope, taking the client from aging infrastructure toward an automated and reuse-enabled treatment system.

The engagement combines biological treatment, mechanical rehabilitation, sludge management, tertiary filtration, disinfection, PLC automation, and treated-water reuse.
